Under the financial support of National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Taiwan, National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) has collaborated with National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), Thailand to launch the Water Innovation and Sustainable Energy Center (WISE Center). The WISE center also collaborates with Taiwan Instrument Research Institute (TIRI) to develop molecularly imprinted polymer based electrochemical microsensor for rapid screening of organophosphorus pesticides (OPP) in water samples. Together with the researchers of MTEC, the NTHU team, led by senior vice president Nyan-Hwa Tai, has visited Mekong River in Chiang Khong during February 25 – 26, 2023 to perform the on-site analysis of OPP in Mekong River using the prototype of MIP-based electrochemical micro-sensor, which was developed from TIRI. Results obtained from the in-situ analysis can not only validate the applicability of MIP-based micro-sensor for OPP analysis in water samples, but also serve as the basis for real on-site monitoring in Mekong River.
