The rapid economic development and serious environmental pollution including CO2 emissions of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), India, and other developing countries have triggered the need to develop cutting-edge green technology to fulfil 2030 sustainable development goals (SDGs) and 2050 net zero emission. Under the support of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) has invited 34 participants from 9 countries including Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam to NTHU for a 12-day workshop. The participants include 1 Vice President, 3 Deans, and 9 Chairpersons or Directors. We also invited the vice president of Philippines National Science and Technology (NAST), Academician Alvin B. Culaba to give a talk entitled 「Trends and Challenges for Net Energy Technology」The content of the workshop focuses on three major aspects, i.e. environmentally green technology, sustainable development goals, and net zero emission. In addition to the fundamental concepts and advanced knowledge of these three aspects, field visits to research institutes and world-renowned enterprises were also arranged. Most participants were excited by the course NTHU arranged and enjoyed the workshop atmosphere. We believe this workshop has significantly increased the international impact and visibility of Taiwan in the areas of energy and environment in the New Southbound countries.
