National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) is renowned for its commitment to advancing global research collaborations. Its recent engagement with Kasetsart University (KU), a prestigious and top university in Thailand, exemplifies this commitment. The collaboration was significantly strengthened with the establishment of the Taiwan-Thailand Research Center for Clean Water and Sustainable Energy (WISE Center)in 2021, a landmark initiative underscoring the shared vision of both universities.
To strengthen the academic collaboration, Chair Professor Sinn-wen Chen, the PI of the Taiwan-Thailand WISE Center, visited the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), KU on January 15, 2024. Welcomed by Professor Patamaporn Sripadungtham, Vice Dean of International Affairs in the FOE, the NTHU delegates held a strategic meeting with the Dean of FOE, Professor Wanchai Yodsudjai, and Chairpersons of several Departments to discuss the integration of artificial intelligence into engineering disciplines and exploring collaborative research projects with the Taiwan-Thailand WISE Center. These dialogues underscored the commitment to leveraging technology for sustainable development and the importance of international cooperation in advancing these goals. Moreover, the meeting also discussed the logistic arrangement for the International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Environmental Technology for Circular Economy. A key highlight of the visit was the in-depth exchange with the lab tour of the Departments of Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. During this visit, NTHU delegates explored state-of-the-art laboratories and discussed potential research collaborations, emphasizing the importance of innovative approaches in addressing global challenges in clean water and sustainable energy.
The enduring relationship between KU and NTHU was further highlighted by recent student exchange programs and mutual collaborative visits. The upcoming international conference, co-hosted by KU and the Taiwan-Thailand WISE Center in Bangkok, aims to showcase cutting-edge research on sustainable energy and environmental technology and foster deeper connections between the academic communities of Taiwan and Thailand. This ongoing collaboration transcends academic research, nurturing diplomatic ties and setting a precedent for international cooperation in sustainable development.
